BAGA proficiency
award for gymnastics
The
scheme can be enjoyed by boys and girls and aims to take the
participants to the stage at which they can begin the more
specific work within their chosen discipline. Badges are
awarded at 6 levels of proficiency as follows:-

EXERCISE
1. From Standing, Jump upwards to land in plié.
2. Balance on one foot and hold.
3. Rock backwards and forwards in tucked shape.
4. Lying on floor, show Dished & Arched shapes.
5. Sit in Straddle with good posture.
6. Front and Back support, lower to floor.
7. From crouch, weight on hands, bunny jump.
8. Skip forward with rope.
9.Bounce and catch ball, three times.
10. Walk on bench, full turn & dismount
When you have completed six of the ten exercises on
the right, you will be eligible for Award Badge and
Certificate 7. |

EXERCISE
1. Jump upwards and forwards from box top, land in
plié.
2. Single leg balance on box top.
3. Roll backwards and forwards to stand.
4. Sideways roll on floor from dished to arch to
dished shapes.
5. Show & hold piked "V" sit, with hand support.
6. From front support, lower and push up, repeat in
back support.
7. From front support, jump to crouch, then jump to
stand.
8. Skip backwards with rope.
9.With a partner, roll and catch a Ball or Hoop.
10. Walk backwards along a bench, stop, turn and
dismount.
When you have completed six of the ten exercises on
the right, you will be eligible for Award Badge and
Certificate 6. |

EXERCISE
1. Run, then hurdle step on to two feet, then jump
to two feet.
2. "Y" balance leg above waist height.
3. Backward roll down an incline.
4. Shoulder stand, hips supported with hands.
5. Japana, with flat back, chest to floor angle 45
degrees or less. Legs at 90 degrees.
6. Front support with partner holding feet, show
good shape.
7. Bunny hop with weight on hands from side to side
over box.
8. Tuck Jump.
9. Roll a Ball or Hoop travel along side and pick up
whilst moving.
10. Leap from one foot to the other foot.
When you have completed six of the ten exercises on
the right, you will be eligible for Award Badge and
Certificate 5. |

EXERCISE
1.
Jump from a box and show straddle shape before
landing.
2. A Headstand with knees bent.
3. A Forward roll.
4. Frog balance.
5. Japana, flat back, chest to floor, legs at 90
degrees.
6. With partner, support a piked straddle shape.
7. Bunny jump from side to side moving along a
bench.
8. Stag Leap.
9. Rotations around waist x 5 (Hoola Hoops)..
10. Jump upwards half turn.
When you have completed six of the ten exercises on
the right, you will be eligible for Award Badge and
Certificate 4 |

EXERCISE
1.
Squat on to and jump off a box with straight body.
2. A Headstand with legs straight.
3. From staddle sit, circle roll sideways to face
opposite direction. (Clown roll or teddy bear roll)
4. Half lever with one foot resting on floor, 3
seconds each leg.
5. From back lying push to Bridge.
6. With partner, Counter balance.
7. Single Knee Balance.
8. Handstand against a wall.
9. Throw and catch a ball three times.
10. Jump upwards full turn.
When you have completed six of the ten exercises on
the right, you will be eligible for Award Badge and
Certificate 3. |

EXERCISE
1.
Squat on, jump off with Tuck jump, box or horse.
2. A Handstand forward roll.
3. A Backward roll.
4. Half lever straight or straddled.
5. Show splits side or box.
6. With a partner show a match or mirrored balance.
7. Cartwheel on floor.
8. Split leap.
9. With a partner throw and catch a Ball or Hoop.
10. Cartwheel quarter turn off bench or box top.
When you have completed six of the ten exercises on
the right, you will be eligible for Award Badge and
Certificate 2. |
Well Done!
You have now completed levels 7 to 2, and can obtain
your medal and certificate in the BG Proficiency
Award 1. |
